How to Create a Beautiful City? A New Laboratorium Zmiany Webinar

Warsaw city center

On June 26 at 7:00 PM, we invite you to another online meeting as part of the Laboratorium Zmiany program, run in cooperation with the EFC Foundation. This time, the webinar will focus on the aesthetics of public spaces. The hosts – Kamil Kubik and Przemysław Ostaszewski – will talk about how to create cities that are friendly, well-organized, and functional.

In many Polish towns and cities, visual chaos, too many ads, and low-quality public spaces are part of everyday life. During the webinar, we will look at why this happens, what causes it, and – most importantly – what can be done about it. We will show good examples from Poland and other countries, and share practical tools and ideas that help design, manage, and communicate changes in urban spaces.

The webinar is mainly for people working in public administration and local governments that have adopted, or plan to adopt, landscape regulations. It is also for activists and residents who care about a more attractive, organized, and functional environment.

Topics we will cover:

  • Why do our cities often look “ugly” and what causes this?
  • What is urban order and how can we achieve it?
  • How to effectively introduce and enforce landscape regulations?
  • How to involve residents and business owners in improving public spaces?
  • Examples of cities that have successfully dealt with spatial chaos.

At the end, there will be a Q&A session, where the speakers will answer participants’ questions.
